HogsCroft Hedgehog Rescue
Hogscroft Hedgehog Rescue is a small licensed hedgehog rescue and rehabilitation centre based near Inchture, Perth and Kinross, Scotland. In action since the start of 2023 the aim is to nurse hedgehogs back to full health and then release them back into the wild.
Prior to the setting up of Hogscroft, Alison (founder) found an ill hedgehog in her own garden and she went on to volunteer at a hedgehog rescue. Following this Alison received mentoring and training to enable her to set up her own rescue. Compared to the size of Scotland there are relatively few rescues devoted solely to hedgehogs and sadly the British hedgehog is now officially classified as vulnerable to extinction.
Every penny we receive from sales goes to the care of hedgehogs currently in the rescue. On admission all hogs are checked for injuries, wounds, fly strike, ticks etc. If dehydrated they will require subcutaneous fluids and their poop is examined under a microscope for parasites which will be treated. They may require antibiotics, painkillers,a trip to the vets and of course food which varies with the age and health of a hog.
We are very grateful for your support enabling us to continue caring for these fascinating wee creatures. Thank you!
